I got the best canned email form letter today from a job application I sent in months ago. The email came in out of left-field because it has been so long that I submitted an application I forget what the actual job was. The email really made me feel special inside. I’m glad my application “was of great interest” – so great that they told me “please do not reply” to the email as it will not reach anybody. They did however offer me the honour of following them on Twitter where I suppose I shouldn’t reply to them either. Your customer service skills, and template email writing skills are second to none.
If anyone from Rogers ever reads this:
- If you are trying to pass yourself off as caring about customer service, don’t tell people not to reply to your emails.
- When the job application is more than 2 months old I don’t think there is a need to shoot a template out to tell me you don’t care. I figured it out myself in the 2 months it took you to click send on the automated response.
- Don’t tell me you value my interest when you obviously don’t. I’m not stupid.
- Your Twitter profile says “our doors are always open” and “connecting with our communities”. The email you sent me below tells the exact opposite story.
Here is the full email copied below. I removed the recruiter’s name, because frankly it doesn’t matter.
