[VIDEO] Peter Schiff | Why the Economic Meltdown Should Have Surprised No One

29 May

Excellent video. Take lessons from this.

Talks about the Dot Com bubble, the Real Estate bubble, the Stock Market bubble.

Peter Schiff’s book – Crash Proof: How to Profit from the Economic Collapse I just got this book today and haven’t started reading it yet so can’t give an opinion.

Kenowa Hills Students Ride Bikes to School and Get Punished

24 May

Hilarity ensues. It’s also pretty sad.

TV News Video of the incident

12th grade kids ride bikes to school.

Principal freaks out and sends them all home. Threatens to not let them have their graduation.

Parents freak out.

Principal appologizes.

Here’s a video from the next day when the principal appologizes. LOL she says “it’s been an emotional 24hrs”

Literally 45 minutes earlier I had been looking at this book on Amazon Beware Dangerism! Seems very appropriate now.

Kids getting in trouble for riding their bikes to school? How does that even make sense?

This really makes me appreciate Vancouver and the bike culture that is growing here.

Brett Domino Plays Moog Google Doodle

23 May

Today is Robert Moog’s 78 birthday and Google has made a Google doodle in his honour. What’s really cool is that you can play the Moog keyboard on the Google homepage – all the keys and knobs work.

British musician Brett Domino has made a video of him playing Daft Punk’s Aerodynamic using the Google homepage keyboard.

Here’s another great Brett Domino and Steven Peavis video playing a medley of Justin Timberlake songs using only small instruments.

If you want to play the Moog synth using your own keyboard, here are the keys.
And this page teaches you how to play 4 iconic synth tracks using the Moog Google Doodle synthesizer – Gary Numan “Cars”, Soft Cell “Tainted Love”, Kraftwerk “Autobahn and Daft Punk “Da Funk”.

And here’s a screenshot of the Moog Google Doodle if you haven’t seen it or can’t access it from your country.

Sad News: Adam Yauch aka MCA of the Beastie Boys Has Passed Away

4 May

Sad to report that Adam Yauch aka MCA of the Beastie Boys has passed away at age 47 due to cancer.

The complete story is on Pitchfork who writes it much better than I could.

I grew up listening to the Beastie Boys – to the point where I knew every word to pretty much every song.  They were a seminal rock / rap group always pushing boundaries in their music, their videos, their concerts and their lives. This was one group where I had all their cassettes, all the CDs and all the records. I’m happy to have seen them live in concert – the last time being their big tour with A Tribe Called Quest.

Not much more can be said so I’ll leave you with some Beastie Boys music videos.

And a DJ Z-Trip Beastie Boys Megamix for free download
